SCAWWY 😱 asa

In heraldry, the cinquefoil emblem or potentilla signified strength, power, honor, and loyalty. Potentilla is a silent, beautiful reminder of the human capacity to endure and overcome life's struggles, making it a profound symbol of strength and celebration. It has traditionally been used to treat inflammatory disorders of the skin and mucous membranes as well as chronic diarrhea.

he also recalls her reaction on friday, and takes a step back to make sure she has her personal space. all done with a sheepish smile. ]
Hey again, miss. Sorry about that. You fairing alright today?
no subject
It's fine. [he didn't bump into her. it's all good.] I have my own bed, so I think I'm doing better than most people today.
[there's a bit of black ink smudged around her neck, though. she has not noticed it.]

[ his gaze does flick to the ink on her neck, but he tries not to stare too long at it. on his forearms, where his sleeves don't cover, is a stark line of ink that states not being able to save her, though he pulls a little at that sleeve like he can get it lower. (he cannot) ]
Who all did you end up with?

week one, monday.
There's no one home?

... I don't see anythin'. Wanna try knockin'?
no subject
Yeah... Let's try that.
[she'll take two steps to the side to be in front of the door, before knocking one, twice, three... and waiting for a response that doesn't seem to be coming.]
week one, thursday.
Um. So... What the hell?

Took the words outta my mouth. [ wearily ] It's a real long story, if you want it. But m'okay - we're all gonna be okay. Just... it was a rough time.

I want to hear it. If anything like it happens again, I want to be prepared.

Asa..? You gonna need anythin'? I can get it for you, if you do.
no subject
predictably, she shakes her head. please stop perceiving her.]
I'm okay for now. [going to be feeling like shit, though.] I'll let you know if I need, um, aspirin or something later?
no subject
I figured, but I wanted to check. [ he gives her a sympathetic smile, coming to sit with her but not looking directly at her. so that she doesn't have actual eyes perceiving her, because he's used to people like that - friends from home that don't want you to acknowledge their existence when they're hurt in any way. ] I think Mr. Daan and Mr. Gale have, uh, aspirin, but I got my salves if anythin' starts hurtin' and you're worried it needs distinfected. It'll slow bleedin' and soothe the pain, too.

and then, they get slam dunked by memshare time. he looks less than thrilled about this as it starts to happen, the scabbed cut across his own left eye pinching as his expression tightens. NOT AGAIN... ]

this is presumably pre-britt britting again. but after the memory ends, asa is quiet for a moment and then slowly asks:]
... Do you regret it? Giving him a chance? You were warned not to trust him.
no subject
it's going to be such a long tuesday for him, but that's fine. he just - frowns, for a moment, quiet. ]
... no. I don't. Some people, I know, they don't deserve a second chance to make things right - there'd be no makin' 'em right. The real, terrible folk in the world. But it was worth givin' him one.
I'd do things differently, but I'd still help him.

asa's watching the pyre from a distance, her expression blank. she will tilt her head in alfyn's direction to acknowledge him, but she doesn't really say anything.]

they get to stand like that for a long, long moment, before he softly speaks up. ]
... doesn't feel like much of a win.

that's alfyn, now, after the miserable execution. at least they didn't lose gale right along with caelus, but he's thrown himself into busy work that involves apparently looting the academy of its furniture. he's carting a chair across the village from the teleportree at the moment like it's no big deal. ]

[ he's looking drained, but no less determined to get some shit done. ]
Could always help you grab the bigger stuff if there was somethin' you wanted to take back to the cabins.

week six, tuesday.
either way, alfyn will spot asa coming out of an alleyway in the markets, confused. she looks around for a moment, loops back into the alleyway — and then comes back out a few seconds later looking just as confused and frustrated? and a bit frazzled, too.
it's fine.]

Asa? Did you get cursed like Mr. Gale last week..?
