...So it was good to see her closer to normal today. And good to prove that someone can still choose to die without the monster holding them back from it, even after it's come out.

Though I really wish we'd known that two weeks ago.

... mm, probably wouldn't have gotten too far with Mr. Daan, to be honest with you. The monster was needlin' and bein' uncanny with his face and voice.

...What was the monster doing, exactly? If you can describe it in more detail. I'm trying to get more information about the different monster powers here, but it was kind of hard to tell from the audience today what was going on with it.

It was the... [ he lifts both hands up, fingers pointing at the corners of his mouth as he bares his teeth in a facsimile of a smile for a second. ] Uncanny smilin'. But it was cheerful, weirdly upbeat and sort of just... needlin' to get under the skin, with a chipper, dismissive voice.

Nothin' meltin' or changin', like today. Up close, today, it wasn't like Cam's, how she was shiftin' into solid faces. He was... blank, before it was like a fake face? A mask in his own skin.

After that, they were movin', and I couldn't see anythin' clearer.

[ gross... he looks a little uncomfortable, but he nods. ]

Anyway. Yeah, it's just... a matter of walking a careful line, I guess. Try to prod just enough to get close to the truth without coming off too accusatory.

Though I think it differs depending on the monster's temperament, too.

Hard to tell what he was, besides somethin' feline... though I dunno if that was the monster, or somethin' from home shapin' his reaction to bein' a monster..?

[ it's hard to know these things. but he nods, regardless, crossing his arms and taking a deep breath. ]

Yeah. Folks that're more dangerous as fighters are gonna be more dangerous as monsters, and those with tempers, both for person and monster. Mr. Daan wasn't much for fightin', so our nudges were enough to not push his monster into anythin' more than that... [ gestures with a shudder.

I think part of the problem is that we never really put together enough of the evidence to even know who it might be until close to the end, and at that point everything's already a disorganized mess. Maybe we need to start keeping everything we look at during the weapon check over with the overseers or something. Disarm everyone at once so it's not so pointed.
