SCAWWY 😱 karlach

Generally, gladioli represent strength of character, faithfulness, moral integrity, and remembrance. They are called the sword lily, and are a sign of strength and protection. Legend has it, the spikiness of the flower was meant to pierce the heart of its recipient with love. Medicinally, it sees use as a cure for various diseases like headaches, epilepsy, schizophrenia, and mood disorders.
wk 0; monday
with the way his sleeves are, the ink of the week is visible on his forearms. the most apparent one is saving him and he is very adamantly ignoring it right now as he sorts through rocks.
he does look up when he hears someone come in, and blinks a few times at seeing karlach like. up close. but it's more of large lady hot than it is holy shit she's red. ]
Howdy! Doing alright today, after all the... [ gestures, all-encompassing the weekend ]
oh that code is rad as fuck
anyway, she's just wandering around, looking in places. when she spots alfyn, she grins a bit. he can probably see the big white letters on her arm that spell out AVERNUS.]
I'm hanging on. If you'd believe it, it's actually not the worst thing that's happened lately. [lol] Gods, we haven't met yet - there's so many of you. I'm Karlach, nice to meet you... ?
[mister ponytail]
i made all of the bg3 match with fanarts it was v fun
while he can see the white writing - which, any other situation? would be so cool - he doesn't know what it's in reference to, and does not want to pry with people he's just met. instead, he gives her a big smile as he fiddles with one of the stones. ]
There's a lot of people, yeah. Alfyn, at your service - we're all basically on top of each other, so I'm sure we're gonna be seeing lots of each other, Karlach.
But I'd believe it. Is this your first cult, or are you an old hat, too?
no subject
she laughs at that, actually.]
Fucking cults! I can't escape 'em, they're popping up like daisies. Old hat, for sure.
Nice to meet you, though, even if it's all shit around here.
no subject
Now, cults? Especially ones trying to revive gods they ain't got business reviving? [ his face scrunches up in blatant distaste, but he does laugh. ] Nah, shit aside, s'nice to meet the folks here.
no subject
Ohhh, you're a doctor. [she says this like it explains things in her brain which it does] That might be good to have around here. You're gonna have your hands full.
no subject
That obvious? [ the grin that overtakes his distaste is warm and pleased, like a dog wagging its tail. ] Haha, I was talking to Mr. Daan about maybe setting up a clinic so that we're ready for trouble while we're here. Famine's kinda backhanded idea to get me out of their mask.
Looking at the pyre's papers, figure you're right.
no subject
[she is very fond of mr. daan.]
I haven't got proper training or anything but I can wrap a wound in a pinch, so if you two need extra hands, don't hesitate to call. Most important thing to me right now is that the kids don't get into rough spots.
no subject
[ he is also. a good tired man. ]
But you betcha. Wrapping a wound is sometimes the most important thing we can do, especially with limited supplies, so I'll give you a holler. Figure from what I remember on your page that you can whoop anything that'd be causing injuries, too. It's a good combination.
no subject
Fuck yeah, I'm loads better at smashing things. [don't sound so proud of yourself] Point me in the right direction and I'll clear a path, gladly.
w0, FRIDAY 2
she is. talking to herself, apparently.]
Gods. Fuck. Death, what happened? I should've...
no subject
... was wonderin' if bein' at the theater last night would've meant nothin' would've happened to Aventurine. [ on forearms, his neck, and bleeding through the white brown green of his clothes across his torso is a lot of ink writing. he crosses his arms, careful of his axe, to try and cover the majority of it up, but not being there. not being able to help. are visible on his neck and collar. ] Miss Laudna found him beneath the stage, when we were lookin' around.
D'you know where Death was..?
no subject
[she says, voice tense. she doesn't have any visible tattoos right now, but. she's clearly agitated.]
... No idea where Death was. That fuck, they -- fuck!
[just SHOUTS that.]
no subject
So he went from the cabin to the theater, somehow. And Death... [ he sucks in a deep breath and closes his eyes, so that he doesn't have to look at the posters. ] Do they think this is a godsdamned game? That it's for laughs?
[ referencing the movie poster theme. he doesn't know what this is a reference to but that doesn't mean he can't be mad about it. ]
no subject
but there are kids here. so she's trying to behave herself.]
The posters are really the kicker, aren't they.
[her voice comes out as a growl.]
Like it's not fucked up enough that we're here, waiting to die.
[and that's when the tattoos pop up - death, death, death, DEATH.]
no subject
[ honestly, keeping it together for the kids is the right thing to do. while he's sure some of them have probably seen terrible things - because plenty of kids back home have - it doesn't mean they should have to see any of them losing their cool.
set an example.
but, even so, he joins aerith in LOSS popping up as a tattoo to echo her resounding stream of deaths. he just covers it with his hand for a moment and closes his eyes. ]
Don't think either of us is the type to just lay down and die. Don't think a lot of us are. There's gotta be somethin'.
wk 0; sunday
he does try to give her a little time, a little space, but since she's lost some fingers and been in a brawl he can't exactly sit by and let her physically hurt. the heart's already doing enough of that to last her a long while - some mending of what can be mended is what he can offer to her, if nothing else. ]
Karlach..?
no subject
she looks up when he says her name, but she cannot manage a smile today.]
... Hey.
no subject
bows his head slightly. ]
... m'sorry. Pretty sure you've heard it a lot today. [ but he is, and for so many things. they should've had more time to figure out how to save him, should've been able to do anything else.
she shouldn't have had to kill anyone, least of all someone that she cared for, shouldn't have had to fight him when he was out of his mind. cruelty at every option.
he offers her his hand, though, after he's set down the jar. ] We can sit in the quiet, if you want to stay in your head for a little while. Or I can listen, or we can talk. Whatever you want.
But you want someone to check out your hand for you?
no subject
Thanks. [she mumbles at the first part. she has heard it a lot, but it doesn't hurt.]
I didn't know him that long. Just a week. [but. she shrugs a shoulder at where her hand is settled, nestled above her heart.] You can look if you want.
no subject
[ says the guy that agreed instantly to help seven strangers with their problems, no questions asked. he knows not everyone is like him - but maybe karlach gets it.
he nods when he sees the sling, carefully scooping her hand up into both of his to check where the digits once were. he can definitely apply some of his salve for her, so that it at least doesn't hurt. ]
no subject
the digits are actually there! they are... sewn on, and it's a pretty decent job. unfortunately it's a long shot on whether they work properly again or not, because they get crazy severed. at least they're not infected.
she'll take a salve.]
We had a lot in common.
no subject
You're both good folk. [ you'd have to be blind, to have not seen that. ] And we're gonna remember him for that, not for what this place did to him.
no subject
... I try. [she says, honestly.] This didn't... it didn't feel good.
