I need to give you a govt assigned flower with medicinal uses so I can make a pretty post for you but it's Friday night we all know what we're here for
[ ah, just where she thought she'd find him. she quietly drops a hysterically out of place fruity cocktail on a nearby counter and lets out a tired breath, scrubbing her hair. her own thoughts are simply gray and washed out, the perpetual exhaustion of friday's bleaching out whatever anger she might have had. good thing she took the long way here because someone sure doesn't need the angry hawk shrieks right now.
otherwise she places a gentle hand on the alfyn, tugging at him gently so he'll come lean on her instead of being a solid ball of misery ]
[ at least neither of them are smashing things to bits in their frustration and grief? he's not that kind of person, but it's hard to not feel the desire for it while he lets the tears come.
they don't stop when hawke tugs on him. alfyn's breath just shudders, hitches, and he drops his leg out of the way so that he can turn into her. his arms go around her and his hands seek purchase, holding on tight like he's afraid that she'll go, too. ]
[ she already screeched her anger out into the sea, where only the gods could hear her cries. if that ends up summoning an eldritch horror sometime later, she absolutely did not do it. but also... hehe?
for now, she just cradles him, rocking back and forth and hums a short lullaby. her voice isn't anything to write home about but the soothing tune of a big sister caring for the little ones echoes well enough. being the last hawke alive was a curse she never wanted but right now at least it seems to be doing some sort of good. ]
[ alfyn is an only child, despite having grown up with zeph and nina, and has always been the big brother of the kids from clearbrook. so having someone that's like an older sister... is a new experience, even after his journey with the other travelers.
but, for all that he so often is the one looking after hawke, he melts into the rocking and his sobbing slowly, but surely, abates against her shoulder. his arms squeeze around her more firmly, little freshly charred bits of his hair against her cheek as he hiccups a miserable noise. ]
[ it's the one thing she keeps coming back to, that deep seated need to protect the younger half of their misadventurers, to make sure they too don't suffer as badly as she has. not that... she's been able to do much for any of them.... but little things like this, like reassuring them all is not lost... she might be the toughest bird in town anymore but at least she has this.
she keeps the humming up for a few more bars, running a soothing hand through his hair before pressing her cheek to it. the vibes are so rancid, fam ]
