SCAWWY 😱 erin

The scientific name Campsis derives from the Greek word 'kampe' which means 'bent' and which refers to the branches that bend under the weight of the profusion of flowers. In the symbolism of plants the trumpet vine represents 'a fresh start', referring to the beginning of autumn. The flowers are used to prepare a tea to relieve menstrual cramps, as well as an emmenaogue to promote menstruation. The decoction made from the roots is taken as a tea to promote urination, as well as an antidote for scorpion and snake venoms, although this has not been proven scientifically.

if they're going to be staying here, they might as well do something with it. ]
Hm, that might do it...

[Oh hey, it's Erin! Entering through the doors after having been who knows where, just to enter and see Alfyn dismantling a bench. Alfyn already proved to be resourceful, since he was already making bandages for future use, so she assumes he's planning ahead for something else, but that doesn't stop her from making a teasing jab of some sort. If anything, knowing Alfyn is working hard only makes it likelier she does this]

[ he rests his hand on the butt of his axe's handle, rocking it back and forth against the floor for a moment as he considers the work at hand. erin can tease, but this teasing doesn't seem to bother him any - instead, he laughs a little, even as he wipes a hand on the opposite arm like he's trying to wipe away the ink writing there. ]
Some of these benches are kinda in need of being sent out to pasture. I figured I'd try to salvage the padding from them for the ones that are sturdier, y'know? And then maybe we can use the wood to make the weaker parts of the floor less, uh, dangerous.

[Erin is greatly underestimating how much progress they'll make on the subject of, well, escaping. She's so used to her boundless resolve letting her make progress in a surprisingly short time. This whole murdergame taking around two months is not going to be a fun time for her]
no subject
[ alfyn also is not going to have a great time for similar reasons, his being with a huge heaping of boundless optimism as well. but he shrugs as he crosses his wrists on the butt of the axe handle, smiling at her while he leans on it, head tilted. ]
We lucked out of getting beds, but we can make the best of things until we kick down the door, so to speak.
no subject
[She has slept far worse than this but also won't say no to being comfortable!]
Again? Oh, you're one of those who has brawled against cultists before?
[That gets Erin cheered up from her usual foul mood somewhat! She likes that there's some people here who have done such things before. Makes her feel less isolated -- she hasn't ever fought a cult, per se, but she's used to them, to summoning, demons, and a bunch of other things. It's nice not to be the only experienced one]
Week 1 --- Monday
[Erin pulls from a turnip. In matter of seconds, a new one grows. Absolutely abnormal! But also she's not wary about it because, truthfully, she was desperate for real food]
Ever saw something grow like that? This is the most beautiful thing I have seen happen in a while.
[Her eyes are sparkling a little. This island is making her feel more relaxed already]
no subject
Whoa! No, that's a new one. [ his shoulders bump up against hers as he scootches closer, reaching to pluck a head? cluster? whatever of spinach out, picking a few leaves off to chew on just straight out of the ground like the hick that he is. when the leaves begin to unfurl out of the ground again, in short order, he pokes at the ground. ]
D'you think if I took any of this soil and put it in a makeshift garden box back in the village, I'd be able to super grow more herbs?
no subject
[Squatter rights]
no subject
[ he picks off another spinach leaf to eat while they literally squat there, peering down at the vegetables thoughtfully. ]
Think I can probably make a decent enough meal with all this stuff, some fish, and herbs, though.
no subject
[She's not the greatest cook ever but compared to what the refectory has served...oh, she's sure she's a Michelin-certified chef in comparison to that]
no subject
... hey, speakin' of. You think you could show me how to use the stuff in the houses here? I kinda figured out a few things in the village, but there's more things that actually work here.
no subject
[She's willing to! Inwardly, she's already pondering if she should drop the 'were you brought from the Stone Age?' comment now or later, because yeah, she has said that to multiple people, hah]
no subject
I think I understand how to use the water in the bathroom, since there's water spouts in the village. [ sinks and faucets. he's doing great.
also it's like the 1600s but fantasy land so sort of yes. ] Other things?
no subject
[Yeah, she couldn't hold back anymore upon hearing that he had to learn about the joys of modern plumbling. Damn it, Erin, it's not even a good line, stop it already]
Whatever, I don't mind. I'll show you the things. It's not all that complex.
no subject
[ innocent but kind of amused, anyways, because he has a feeling this is something she's said to a lot of them. ]
I'm a quick learner, so there's that. And it means we can do some cookin' with these veggies sooner instead of later.
no subject
[Erin at least makes sure not to step on the pictures of the poor bipedal wolf who once owned this house -- pictures she left in a disorderly pile outside the house -- and goes in, leading towards the kitchen]
This is the most basic kitchen setup in the modern age. [She points at each thing she mentions:] Fridge. Stove. The thing that sucks the hot air and steam away from you. Fire extinguisher over there so you don't die when you screw up.
Long story short, the fridge is where the ingredients are, and the stove where you cook them.
[There already are a couple empty pans on the stove, probably left there by the former owner of the house]

alfyn knows that he's kind of tenderhearted. he knows he's a bleeding heart. he knows this isn't real.
but it doesn't stop him from wanting to get away from the crowd when he begins hearing the other travelers brutally driving into all of his weakest points. ]
Oh - [ but he looks up, and erin's here on the beach, too. and he takes a deep breath to try and swallow down the distress, put on a smile. ] Had to get away for a bit?
no subject
Yeah. You probably noticed but it's become a teary circus around here--
[And then she turns her head to see Alfyn, and something in her tells her someone isn't 100% at his best]
Let me guess, you're here because you wanted a breather from whatever the tea caused.
[It's not that she's lacking in sympathy, it just frustrates her]
Precurfew Week 1
[Hi, Alfyn, came to check on you]
no subject
[ thread pending
he's changed his clothes and is at one of the other houses on the island at the moment, propped and carefully rubbing at his chest below where he was stabbed. ]
no subject
[Medicine, perhaps?]
wk 1; saturday
alfyn comes over to the pyre and peers into where she's in gay baby jail. he hadn't stuck around with boothill, but... here erin is. he's prepared in the event that he has to cover his ears, should he need to, but he doesn't seem too concerned about it right now. just tired. ]
Hey. Holdin' up?
no subject
You tell me how I'm holdin' up.
[Despite her words it seems she's holding up well, at least enough for a conversation. She's currently grappling with the need to harm you all because, you know, monster! But she's channeling that into her deadpan tone. It's a way of coping]
no subject
[ frowning slightly, alfyn moves to sit down across from her. doesn't matter if it's bench or ground, he'll ease himself down and simply. look at her. ]
... did it take control of you, or was it for one of those things in the basement?
no subject
[That's such a roundabout way of saying it was the monster. Truthfully, part of the reason why Erin is currently in a state to talk is because she's having an intensely bitter internal battle with the monster out of absolute spite, for daring to get her in this situation]
Week 6 -- Wednesday
[Truthfully? Erin was so indignated by that. She wants a name so she can lose a lot of respect for that person]
no subject
[ bit of an understatement, but... it could've been worse, he thinks. ]
no subject
[Erin seems skeptical, really]
no subject
[ he'll let it slide. ]
no subject
Damn it, I can't stay pissy after hearing this.
[Her righteous indignation of behalf of Alfyn, nooooo]
no subject
Kinda hard to stay mad at 'em, just disappointed they didn't tell me.
no subject
[We need to work together and destroy a cult, not ruin each other's lives!
erin is totally being all 'do as a say not as i do' honestly. she hasnt targeted the living with shenanigans but she sure has done plenty of antics of her own on her side, what a hypocrite haha]
