SCAWWY 😱 gale

In many cultures, the Jacaranda tree is a symbol of beauty, resilience, and renewal. Its vibrant flowers are often associated with good fortune and prosperity. Further meanings can be wisdom, rebirth, wealth, and good luck. Legend says if the flower falls on your head, it means good fortune for you. Water extract of Jacaranda mimosifolia shows higher antimicrobial action against E coli. The tree is used to treat hepatitis and in folk tradition the flowers, leaves, and bark are used to ease neuralgia and varicose veins. It is scientifically proven that Jacaranda has qualities that treat leukemia. Hot Jacaranda leaf baths treat wounds and skin infections and the tree also helps in the treatment of acne.

Mr. Gale..?

well gale is sitting somewhere a little ways away from the Karlach bubble just to take a break. because this is hell! haha! help! and is sitting very stiffly and obviously painfully but it's fine. furiously writing in his little notebook. ]

yeah, he's sticking around the pyre just to make sure that she's alright (""alright"") but has been giving the baldurs their room. but he's a doctor above all else. he's going to come closer when there's no immediate response, going to sit nearby. ]
I'm sorry. That it was her. [ for starters. ] You take anythin' for the pain?
no subject
[ he is not big Toxic Masculinity about grinning and bearing pain for no reason at least. ]
We have painkillers, at the mortuary. [ ... ] I suppose I should have done the swamp earlier.
no subject
[ he huffs a humorless noise about the swamp, before reaching into his bag and pulling out one of his yellow-green tinctures, offering him the vial. ]
Won't cut the pain completely, but it'll help take the edge off of some of it until then, while you're waitin' up tonight.
no subject
Thank you.
... I'm afraid I have no idea what to do now. Every path seems equally terrible.
no subject
[ he nods, looking off at where karlach and daan have been contained for the time being, pensive. ]
... kinda the theme of the place, feels like. The only silver linin' we've gotten has been that there's been letters from those we lost, but we still... well, they've still been lost.
wk 5; monday
he perks when he sees gale, and there's the confidence that he'll have a good answer: ]
Hey, Mr. Gale - what kinda books do you think we could use at the pyre library?
no subject
he's also got another change, though i guess that depends if alfyn is looking at his boobs or not, but the mark that used to be blue-black is now pale white, like a scar and the bruise in the middle is gone, along with the dark veining on his face. ]
Alfyn. You know, Rondo asked me the same thing the other week.
no subject
i can't say that alfyn does not look at gale's boobs. it's mostly to check him over, his recovery from the weekend, but the man has eyes that work. he blinks at the changes - refocuses at the mention of rondo. ]
Bet that was part of his inspiration for the whole thing. [ enrich the scholars in your life. ] I added the books me and Nina took from the Academy, but I figured... if we had the chance, we should keep addin' stuff up, for Rondo.

Perhaps a selection of fiction, then? While research is all well and good, I don't know, a bit of escapism might be appreciated in times such as these.
W6 - TUESDAY
Have you been kept abreast of all of these ... instructions within the letters?
no subject
alfyn perks a little bit with this question, before nodding. ]
Both unfortunately and fortunately. Vin told me when you first got the letter with the less than six bein' bad soup stuff.
I was kinda hopin' that I might get somethin' to explain that more, from... stuff. [ remembering he can't talk about How. ] But I got a tome like the one you shared with us instead.
no subject
[ immediately curious ]
Would you mind sharing? More instructions upon rituals?
no subject
[ he will open his satchel to retrieve the tome, handling it with utmost care considering the age. copypastes the blurb for you.
There are mentions of two possible ingredients that were to be used in the ritual. One is crossed out, though the details are impossible to make out for either, besides the mention of eyes. At the end, there is a partially worn journal entry:
"...looking from within the darkness at me! I felt seen by the savior all the way to the pit of my soul."
he'll offer it to gale to take a closer look at, of course. ]
I'm wonderin' if we can piece it all together. Tot mentioned that Miss Laudna got an eye, and one of the things we got on the first trip was a millipede with a bunch of eyes.
wk 6; thursday
but alfyn jitters around at the swamp for their thursday fools to be freed from its clutches, holding a stack of blankets and offering one of them to gale once he's out of the muck and mire. ]
How's that head of yours now, Mr. Gale..?
no subject
Well, I've never had complaints ...
