Go figure the food is awful, too... [ we are in the refectory, but he still tries to finish the bland, terrible food as he walks around the building with it while he eats. he squints at the door that leads down to the cellar. alfyn carefully opens it with a free hand, before using the toe of his boot to open it the rest of the way, peering down the stairs cautiously.

over his shoulder, as he notices that their resident sword is here: ] Hey, Iwa, you been down here yet?

Down? [ peers over his shoulder, down into the cellar. ] Not yet. I don't want to overcrowd in small areas.

[ he is so big. and now he has the naginata? that makes it more difficult. ]

[ still does not question iwatooshi using his height to loom, gaze wary down the passage. ]

Well, just the two of us, now, and I dunno about you but I'm used to working with real big fellas. [ reaching back to pat him on the arm. ] Sword's a lot longer than Olberic's, but he carries the huge suckers that're bigger than some of the girls here. Wanna check it out and clear it?

[ alfyn is seated on the ground behind the cabin, near the water, using the edge of his axe to carefully try to carve a short stick into a point as he watches movement of fish beneath the surface. he's making sure to not dull the edge of the blade, but he's only partially paying attention to his task.

he keeps reaching like he's trying to rub away the ink that's visible on his forearms, where his sleeves don't reach, but he's also trying to not pay too much attention to the words at the same time.

Oh, hey Iwa. You get settled in somewhere today with the weird feeling we all got about "home"?

[ for once he will keep his voice down because he knows about fishing! lucky you, alfyn. ]

I am! We've decided on roommates and started cleaning the place up... it was very dusty, before. It's been a productive morning!

[ as for the tattoo, iwa's is fully visible on his arm, though the black ink could almost be part of his glove. it says that he's has killed... an extraordinarily large number. i don't have an exact one but definitely over a thousand. ]

You're looking to fish? I'd join you, if we had the tools.

We're still figuring things out in the theater, but as long as nobody steps on the stage it's fine I think.

that is so many people, iwatooshi. but at the same time, he... saw the profiles, and his age, and lives in a place with active wars. so he's probably going to handle this out of context better than most people would.

the most visible of his is a regret, simply stating saving him. ]

Clearbrook is surrounded by, well, brooks and rivers. So we got used to fishing with what we could, even if it was sloshing around with our bare hands. I'm not quick enough for that kinda thing, though.

[ we're outside of the theater, actually, as alfyn prowls around the exterior like he can actually find anything else here despite having done it before during the investigation himself.

he's got his axe in his hand, a death grip around it but in a hold that tells he's prepared to use it if he has to, instead of snapping it into the loop on the back of his belt. when he sees iwatooshi, his head lifts up from looking around on the ground. despite the tension in his body, there's visible relief to see him alright. ]

You find anythin' excitin' after we were able to leave the pyre?

[naginota]

[ he is making a note of how alfyn holds his body and his axe, as if he's ready to strike at any moment. how familiar. ]

Besides the posters, and the flames changing color? [ shakes his head. ] No. Did you?

[concoctive]

[ much like the rest of the week, there's assorted ink writing on his skin and showing through his clothes, but he tries to smother them a bit as he crosses his arms over his chest briefly. the axe slides down in his grip as it loosens, until he catches the handle just below the head and holds it against his shoulder. ]

... flame reminds me of somethin' from home. Be more comfortin' if it wasn't the situation that it is. [ but alfyn takes a deep breath. ] Miss Laudna was with me 'n Todomatsu, here in the theater. She found Aventurine under the stage after jumpin' down.

[ seated at the bar of the winery is alfyn! he's got a drink, yes, but it's only maybe had a few drinks taken from it as he sits there with a spread of herbs and a mason jar on the other side from the drink. he's absently grinding herbs with a mortar and pestle until he gets it to the consistency and color that he wants.

he just looks frustrated as he works, and even with his ponytail there's clearly ink that yells losing more people across the back of his neck. but when he hears steps coming down the stairs into the basement, he lifts his head up and looks to see who it is.

seeing iwatooshi, he offers a wan, tired smile. ]

... come to take a load off?

[naginota]

A good drink never hurt, especially with the past few days.

[ glad for the company, he returns the smile. and though he sees the ink, he decides not against bringing it up. no more words are needed there.

so instead, he nods to the mortar and pestle as he goes to fetch a drink of his own. ] Preparing more medicine?

[concoctive]

Here, here. [ a sword after his own heart. but he returns to the practiced motions, wrist twisting, muscles working, focus downwards until the paste-like substance is a soft yellow green. ]

Mmhm. Before... Death took me to the garden, and let me take some herbs for medicines. Used some for Tot, Vin, and now Karlach, and... I just feel like we're gonna need a lot of it.

Rather be better safe than sorry, if somethin' else winds up happenin' after this.

week 1, thursday

[ hey what do you mean this is our only pc this week. anyway iwa's coming to check on him!! of course he is!! god!! ]

How are you feeling, Alfyn-dono? Is there anything I can do?

[concoctive]

[ i know i'm shook frankly ]

Well. Could be better, could be worse. m'alive, y'know? [ he's been mandated to the island in one of the abandoned houses because nearly everyone that's pc'd me has demanded it. ] ... you alright keepin' me company for a while?

I don't think I'm gonna handle bein' alone for a bit after... that.

Of course.

[ if they're inside then it'll be easier for iwa to sit. these houses are so small. it's also affection week so he'll get as close to alfyn as possible without agitating any wounds. ]

Whatever happened has rattled you pretty good, hasn't it? I'll stay as long as you need me to.

week 1, saturday

[naginota]

[ jesus fucking christ. iwa's wandering restlessly after Everything, but he'll come over and drop a hand on alfyn's shoulder when he sees him. ]

Feeling alright?

[ iwa himself is tense, unhappy, but otherwise calm. death isn't anything new to a weapon. ]

[concoctive]

[ jesus fucking christ is right.

alfyn is probably leaving the pyre for now, after having kind of sat with erin for a little while. he wants to let other people have their time with her. but he goes from looking severe, frowning deeply, to just looking so, so tired. ]

... I dunno. Knew about Nona for a while, when Vin tipped me off, and so I kinda expected somethin' to happen. But even knowin' it was a mercy kill for Nona, and will be for Erin tomorrow, doesn't make it much easier to accept.

And somebody else is still out there, affected by the monster they were afflicted with.

wk 2; monday

[ hey there's absolutely no preamble to this. the two of them are just minding their own business, perhaps standing in the gas station? they're two ye oldes, completely bemused by modern things, but the lights are so bright...

and the brightest lights cast the darkest shadows. shadows that are more than happy to ensnare someone, maybe two someones, and drag them into a terrible memory. ]

[ it's so soon after last week for alfyn to have this memory thrust back in his face.

iwatooshi doesn't say anything to that. he simply steps a little closer to put his arm around alfyn's shoulder in a sort of half-hug to offer any support he might need. affection week may be over, but sometimes that's what they need most. ]

week 6, wednesday

It's been too long, Aflyn-dono!

[ hitting him on the back! gently, of course. it actually seems to connect this time, leaving a spot on alfyn's back very cold. ]

I've missed your company. Watching you or reading letters isn't the same!

[concoctive]

[ he goes abruptly straight as he feels the chill, but he doesn't shudder it off or anything. it makes it feel more real.

gods, he's going to wind up crying SO MUCH today, he thinks. ]

I was just gonna send you another letter today, but here you are instead... [ a wobbly smile. ] I miss you, too.

wk 7; monday

[concoctive]

[ takes the sword to the dojo. the swojo. alfyn figures that iwatooshi has lived here for however long that it's been up, and he is actually a trained fighter in more than just axes. ]

Hey, Iwa... do you think we could have a round or two? I haven't been keepin' up with any trainin', on the other side, except to fight monsters. If we're gonna be fightin' the cultists, with or without powers...

I wanna make sure I'm all set.

[naginota]

[ oh!!! this is great!! exactly what he needs after a day of extremely frustrating curses. ]

I would never turn down a spar, Alfyn-dono! Gahahaha!

[ practice weapon or steel, iwa isn't afraid to use either. the choice is alfyn's, though his emotions are alight with excitement, anticipating a fun battle. he's never quite seen alfyn fight, but he's looking forward to it. ]

wk 7; endgame

[concoctive]

[ voids us to start because alfyn will track iwatooshi down pretty quickly, looking like he did in fact get smacked down into the ground by a giant god beast. he has his mortar out, though. ]

C'mere, Iwa, I got somethin' for the both of us.

[ bro he is immediately coming over to fuss. ]

Alfyn-dono. Are you still damaged?
