Marigolds were often linked to the powerful strength of the sun and represent power, strength, and light that lives inside of a person. Week 4: Sunday

[ unfortunately, ash isn't very good company today... she can be found just sitting around outside, staring off into space, though. ]

[concoctive]

[ this is fine.

alfyn pauses a little ways back when he spots her, before he disappears for ten, fifteen minutes. when he returns, it's with a blanket that he drops around her shoulders gently before he drops to sit down near her. still giving space, but just propping his arms on his knees and staring off into the void. ]

[killies]

[ oh. it doesn't surprise her at least because she hears him coming. so she accepts the blanket and gives him a lil nod.

and after like an awkwardly long time of just sitting there finally thinks to say: ]

[ he is a little hoarse, and still so very tired, just sort of looking off as they finally have a chance to process things.

the silence returns for a little bit, and then alfyn does say something again. ]

If there was one thing you'd bring back from this week's place through the tree door, somethin' to put in the village for us to celebrate our lost, let 'em know that we're still thinkin' of 'em, what do you think you'd pick?

[ another long pause while she tries to think of a good answer. she's not good with gestures. she's not... good at expressing things. ]

Maybe... more stuffed animals from the boardwalk?

I think those made people happy. [ at least, rondo and karlach liked them. ]

[ it's alright, that she's not good with gestures. not so good at expressing things.

alfyn figures, though... maybe it's better to think about what they've lost in this way. to try and cope with the horrors and grief, and not be so alone. ]

I think... yeah. They did. And I think it's a good way to remember 'em. Dunno what ones would suit everyone, though. [ But Rondo spent all week with dog ears and a waggin' tail poppin' up in his thoughts... ]

[ hah. ]

Definitely a dog for Rondo. And I think Karlach likes bears, maybe. Izutsumi... A cat is obvious, but if she thought of that as a curse, then I don't know. And Kanda...

[ she doesn't know what kanda would like! which is upsetting to realize. she spent so much time with him and still knows so little about him. ]

... swan, maybe? [ it's a little bit of a joke, to try and distract from the hurt. ] They're beautiful, and protective, but they're awfully ornery and can kick your ass.

Oh. Geese are like that, too.

Feels kinda right, don't it?

[ a soft laugh, tired but there. ]

... maybe I'll go win some prizes for all of us. Before we lose the boardwalk.

You should just steal them, with how little time is left. Unless you just want the distraction.

I dunno. Part of me does, part of me doesn't. Tomorrow, I'll put a game face back on, but Sundays... I think it's okay for us to hurt for a while.

By Monday everyone will be back to being stupid.

Oh, yeah, definitely. Think we all find ways to distract ourselves with stupid shenanigans come Mondays.

I get that people need a way to relax and reset, but I'm glad I've been left out of it so far.
