Marigolds were often linked to the powerful strength of the sun and represent power, strength, and light that lives inside of a person. The marigold can also represent the connection between life and death. According to Ayurvedic and Unani medicine, the flowers and leaves of marigold have anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, antimicrobial, and antiepileptic effects. Marigolds are generally administered in tinctures, ointments, and infusions to treat wounds for inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes.

... yeah, bet it's nothin' good. Never is. [ he reaches back behind himself and unsnaps his axe from the loop on his belt, giving it a deft spin. ] How's your leg doin'?

Good enough to run if we have to.

Alright. [ good ] So, we can either start headin' back, or keep lookin' around? I'm down for either but I know those kinda sounds from travelin' back home. Definitely somethin' out here.

Better to know what we're up against, if we're gonna be spendin' any time in this place. If anythin' winds up happenin'... we just stay on guard.

What's that for?

I know we've got the swamp and all, and the uh. The big dogwood with the person in it? The liquid from the spigot is a healin' tonic, but just a small one - and I don't wanna use too much of it, 'cause Pesti told me the two of 'em just want to be left in peace. But not a lot of people are gonna want to drink that, or go for a dunk in the swamp if they don't have to.

but she'll step a little closer to get a better look at the orangeroot. maybe this information will help her someday. who knows. ]

In the alchemical stuff at the academy, I found a few more mortars and pestles. I figure if anybody wants to learn how to make these things... I'd be glad to help out. But this is best ground down into a salve. So if you dry the leaves and flowers, you can rehydrate 'em and then grind 'em up.
[ still keeping an ear out for spiders, but... explaining. ]

also she is now like... moving... closer to the sound? curiosity is getting the best of her. ]

[ he'll grab a few more little bundles, before following like. hm. might as well find out. ]

[ sometimes you're a survivalist in such a deeply specific way that you don't actually learn anything useful about the world. ]
... I heard it again. This way.

[ he puts the herbs away in his satchel, to be taken better care of later, and gives his axe a small spin to get a better grip on it. ]
Easy does it...

[ she cuts herself off, attention snapping to one direction. hey guess what: spiders!!!! ]

he opens his mouth, but all that comes out is a short laugh in a "gods, why" way when his attention follows hers and he sees. spiders. ]
Good news is, these are smaller than the giant spiders I've dealt with back home.
no subject
[ help. if a spider gets close to her she will simply punt it away. which isn't all that effective. ]
no subject
[ brandishes his axe at them to see if it'll scare them off. gets hissed at like this is eight legged freaks. ]
Go, shoo, you don't want to dance with me..!
no subject
[ okay well this was a fun experiment. her curiosity is sated!!!! she runs up and kicks the nearest spider as hard as she can and then just. turns away. ]
Let's run.
