SCAWWY 😱 nina

[ she comes running out of the fog and slams right into him. oof. ]

[ nina gets to see alfyn swiftly returning the bible to the church, actually.

he comes in at a brisk walk, holding the damned thing, brow pinched and jaw tight before he nearly, nearly slam dunks the thing back in its spot. ]

Hooly shit, we need to put a bigger sign up than just in the dirt about this godsdamned thing.

[ well! here we are, outside of the theater. not inside it, no, but outside.

there's the chopping sound of metal on wood, and following the noise brings you to... alfyn! he's taken off his green vest and folded it neatly to the side with his satchel, swinging the axe expertly and breaking down a few of the already broken benches into smaller pieces. the weapon isn't technically meant for this task, but it's all that he's got - so he does with it what he can.

some of it's been chopped into rectangular pieces, maybe a foot by two feet. as he gets a few more pieces done, he expertly swings the axe down with one hand so that it lands carefully in the dirt, bringing his other hand up to wipe the back of his wrist across his forehead.

when he notices someone's come along, he offers a crooked, if tired, smile. ]

Hey, Nina. Just uh. Just tryin' to keep busy.

well nina is playing with the sheep, having her pacha moment and just chatting with them. she's got her diary open and looks like she's consulting them on some things.

[ swallowed by the shadows and taken to a space from a different time and place...

you have your next target. a pompous old rich man who has done nothing but cause problems, making the life of poorer citizens a living hell. he's evil, in your eyes, and his dealings must be addressed. you get the group together and set out.

but what you don't expect is to run into a familiar face, one that you haven't seen in quite some time...

[ what thievery is she getting up to, nina? is she reading in the library or trying to steal pretty rocks? either way i assume she's in a building rather than the forest or woods, so he's going to come join her when he finds her doing her thing. ]

[ there's veils in the academy, but alfyn is still here - in the library, eyes red and cheeks tearstained as he works his way through collecting as many books in a stack as he possibly can. he's not really doing much to look at them, to be honest, but is instead just going from shelf to shelf in an attempt to gather up a variety, while making sure to not leave behind any that might be part of a series.

he does have to stop at one point and just kind of. crouch down at a shelf, scrubbing fresh and bitter tears away. ]

Godsdamnit...

[ she's at the pyre and has been since trial ended. she probably got taken away to get checked out and rest, but now that she's conscious she's back.

for now... she is just curled up on one of the benches, knees to chest and eyes glued on the barrier. ]

[ he's tired, he's still grieving their lost friends, but... alfyn knows they have to keep going.

so he's standing at one of the game stalls, arms crossed, considering it and the probability of him winning. I've got a good arm, I think I can swing it... ]

I've seen plenty of festivals and stuff like that, but this is realy blowin' it out of the water. [ looking to nina with raised brows. ] Don't even know what to make of all the stuff movin'.

[ tea garden for now... she's checking out some of the plants, reaching out to poke at them. ]

Do you know what some of these are, Alfy?

[ BUZZES AROUND HER, he looks stricken by the fact that he can't hug nina but - at least he can show her around spain WITH the s. the market is fun, and... maybe there's something he can send her? ]

Have you been alright, on the other side..? I figure I can't ask for a lot of details 'cause of you guys boopin' in and outta here, but... that should be safe?
