[ well. after attending to vin and anis, alfyn is going to show up at the pyre to check on kate. there's not... there's not anything that he can do, but he's still here, like maybe just by making sure she's not alone that she'll at least have that. ]

[ a wry twist to his mouth. ]

Yeah, I bet. [ kind of easy! to work up an appetite! stabbing an npc and setting a church on fire! ] Cam told me about tryin' to help you out at the theater. What kinda sedative did you guys try to use?

I'm not sure. I suspect they slipped me something when we ate together that afternoon.

[ but that reminds her... ]

The herbs you told me about before... lavender and poppy and the others. I tried gathering them, but...

[ a bit of a distant blip of some emotion, as she thinks on that. ]

[ sighing softly, looking at her and just - feeling hurt for her. she didn't deserve this at all, and now that she's so emotionally blank there really is no easy way to read her. ]

I should've tried to make somethin' when you first mentioned it to me. Or asked for somethin' from home, if Pesti could get it for me... I'm sorry, Kate.

[ at some point, when they're away from the party crowd, this little faceless penguin approaches alfyn. ]

Alfyn. It's good to see you again.

[ there is some warmth in her voice. ]

[concoctive]

[ ooogh he's so mad that he can't hug her. but, in lieu of that, alfyn reaches to put his hands down on this penguin's shoulders to try and squeeze. his expression wobbles, but - happy wibbly wobbly. ]

[sootprints]

[ her shoulders just feel like cold, empty air. ]

Oh... yes. I'm sorry for all of the trouble I caused.

[ tries to radiate warmth into the cold, cold air. ]
